Born into a family of four, he lost his father at the age of five and his mother at the age of thirteen. He was raised by his grandparents in their house after both his parents died. After completing his education he moved back to Chennai, Tamil Nadu and started working under the guidance of Ram Gopal Bajaj at Prabhat Film Company.

Uppsala Nancharaiah is a famous Telugu Drama Artist born on October 1, 1924 in Andhra Pradesh, India. His parents were Raju and Subbamma. He was the eldest son out of four siblings.
He had started his professional career as a Teacher at Aeturukupeta after completing his education but later left the profession to become a full-time actor in 1948. Since then he has acted in many popular Telugu dramas like kanne chalane and Bhakta Potana.
